Water lily Sioux is a charming water lily that captivates with its delicate pink and white blooms, whose color tones change throughout the flowering period. Thanks to its refined appearance and easy maintenance, Sioux is ideal for medium-sized and larger ponds, where it can shine in all its glory.
Flower color | pinkish-white, varies depending on light |
Flowers | large, up to 10 cm in diameter |
Leaves | 14 – 20 cm shiny, rounded, dark green |
Water depth | 40 – 100 cm (at least 60 cm for overwintering) |
Note: Water lily Sioux prefers a sunny location (at least 5 – 6 hours of direct sunlight per day). Blooms from spring to late autumn. Ideal for larger ponds or garden ponds. Removing wilted flowers and old leaves helps the plant maintain its beauty and keeps the water clean. |
Planting
Water lilies prefer rich, clay-like soil; sandy bottoms are not suitable for them. In a natural pond, they can be planted directly into the mud at a depth of at least 50 cm, where the bottom does not freeze in winter. If the pond freezes completely during the winter, the water lily should be removed in autumn along with the planting basket and placed in an appropriate wintering location. A dark cellar with low temperature is ideal. The plant should be placed in a water-filled container, its leaves removed, and regularly checked throughout the winter to ensure it has enough water, adding more as needed.
