Description

Iris × pseudata is a relatively new group of irises – a hybrid between Iris pseudacorus and Iris ensata:

  • From Iris pseudacorus, it inherits excellent cold hardiness and the ability to grow in water (even overwintering in it)
  • From Iris ensata, it gains its stunning flower size and form

The cultivar Chance Beauty features impressively large, intensely yellow flowers with a cinnamon-brown pattern at the base of the petals. The plant grows tall and robust. Iris × pseudata is highly valued for its ability to absorb nitrogen compounds from water and pond substrates, significantly contributing to water purification and helping to prevent excessive algae growth. Chance Beauty is ideal for landscaping the edges of natural and artificial ponds.
